Rapita is delighted to offer year-long, paid industrial placements to the best software undergraduates during their degree. Working in our software team, you can expect to be designing, developing and testing software to help our customers build safety-critical systems.
The placement is an excellent introduction to practical software engineering and reliable software. Our previous placements have been extremely successful, and several former students now have permanent jobs in the company.
Project and Experience
As a software engineer in a commercial environment, you will be working within our development team to create and test our flagship RVS software. You will be working on Windows, Linux and embedded systems, using a variety of languages including C, C++, Java, SQL, Ada, Python and Perl.
You can expect to gain experience in software development, industrial research and project management tools, testing, processes, and modern software practices. Depending on your interests and skills, you could be working on complex algorithms, language parsing and automatic analysis of source and object code; or developing using the Eclipse-based graphical interface development; or working on our DO-178C qualification kit using your eye for quality, writing/analysing requirements, tests and analysis to provide certification evidence for safety critical software verification.
You have the opportunity for future part-time and full-time employment.
What we are looking for
You should be part way through your computer science or electronics degree, aiming for a 1st class, or high 2:1 and have excellent software skills. You must have a proactive attitude - keen to learn new things and be a key player in a fast-paced, quality-focused hardworking team. You should have an interest in high quality and/or safety-critical aerospace software.
