Funded in part by the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), P-SOCRATES envisages a convergence between the needs of the High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Embedded Computing (EC) domains. P-SOCRATES will merge leading research groups from the HPC and EC communities to develop new techniques for exploiting the massively parallel computation capabilities of such platforms in a predictable way. Dr Andrew Coombes of Rapita Systems is a member of the Industrial Advisory Board (IAB). The IAB exists to monitor the progress of the project, providing meaningful feedback to the proposed solutions, and to facilitate the industrial exploitation of the project outcomes, promoting potential collaborations beyond the time-span of the project. Dr Coombes will provide expert consultancy advice and knowledge to help guide and inform P-SOCRATES partners as the project develops. The project started on October 1st 2013 and will last 36 months.
