Through a mix of theory and practical training, you will learn how to:

  • Leverage industry-best approaches to AC 20-193 and AMC 20-193 compliance
  • Interpret AC 20-193 and AMC 20-193 and what the objectives mean in practice
  • Select the right multicore hardware for your project
  • Characterize and quantify multicore interference in your platform
  • Estimate worst-case-execution-time for multicore platforms
  • Demonstrate robust partitioning in your multicore system
  • Integrate AC 20-193 and AMC 20-193 evidence into your existing DO-178C workflow

The training will be spread over two full days, following the agenda below:

Session 2 Concepts and terminology Session 8 Operating Environments: AMP, SMP, etc.
IMA (Integrated Modular Avionics)
Session 3 Identifying and quantifying multicore interference Data Coupling and Control Coupling (DC/CC) Session 9 Planning a multicore certification
Session 4 Exercise: Identifying interferene channels Session 10 Robust Partitioning
Session 5 Regulatory Environment: from CAST-32A to A(M)C 20-193 and AA.22.01 Critical Configuration Settings (CCS)
Session 6 Single Core Activation Safety Net
GPUs Session 11 Exercise: Interference Channel Characterization and Worst-case Execution Time (WCET) determination
Hardware Selection Session 12 Put it all together into an example
RTOS Selection Session 13 Review and conclusions

The Presenters

The training will be delivered by industry experts:

Leif Olivier Charrier - Functional Safety Specialist   
Olivier Charrier is a Functional Safety Specialist who obtained a Master’s degree in Software Engineering (DESS) from Bordeaux University in 1989. He worked for Alsys/Aonix before joining Wind River in June 2001 as Senior Field Application Engineer for the South-western region of Europe dedicated to the Aerospace & Defence Market. In 2007, he became EMEA Aerospace & Defence Principal Engineer to support and coordinate EMEA wide A&D programs. Since January 2017, Olivier has been extending his scope to contribute to other markets, like Railway, Nuclear, Medical and Automotive, also adding new geo like APAC.

Leif Leif Millar - Multicore Software Engineer   
Leif Millar is a senior multicore engineer at Rapita systems assisting our partners with multicore integrations and product development. Before Rapita, he worked in the automotive industry as an embedded systems software engineer. He has a BSE in Computer Engineering and MSE in Computer Science from University of Michigan. Prior to college, he was an F-15 avionics technician in the US Air Force.

 

Karl Karl Thyssen - Multicore Analysis Engineer    
Karl is a Multicore Analysis Engineer who works in the delivery of customer projects on multicore platforms, specializing in software analysis.
